From cookies to concerts to carnival rides, the Great Minnesota Get-Together has a little something for everyone — which is why almost two million visitors descend on the Minnesota State Fairgrounds each August.
Xcel Energy has proudly powered the Minnesota State Fair for over a century, and this year, we’re showing up bigger and better than ever, with new opportunities to create lasting memories.
For the first time in the Fair’s history, Xcel Energy lineworkers will take part in live demonstrations that showcase the skills, training and safety practices that keep the grid running. Stop by our exhibit outside the Eco Experience building at 10 am, 1 pm or 4 pm to get in on the action.
In between shows, the space will also host a brand new “Future Lineworker Zone” — complete with interactive activities that allow children and families to try on insulated line gloves, test their dexterity while wearing safety gear and use a simulated hot stick to reset a mock fuse on a training pole.
In addition to the new experience, you can still find friendly faces in familiar places. As a longtime sponsor of the Eco Experience, we invite fairgoers to explore engaging and educational attractions that empower them to take meaningful action in their own lives and demonstrate how, together, we can build a better future. Visitors can tour a tiny house filled with energy-saving tips, explore interactive experiences with displays focused on electric vehicle charging and other customer energy saving programs.
Fairgoers will also find Xcel Energy exhibits across the fairgrounds. In the Grandstand, find the Public Safety Power Town, an interactive miniature town that teaches visitors about electrical safety. At the Blue Flame Lodge, across from the giant slide, guests can stop by for a product giveaway while checking off a location on our digital scavenger hunt.
As the fair continues to grow and evolve, Xcel Energy is proud to power its past, present and future. From the bright Midway lights to new innovations at the Eco Experience, we’re committed to continuously powering the memories and traditions Minnesotans love most. See you at the fair!
