The Timberwolves have been electric over the past couple of seasons, with deep playoff runs and an increasingly engaged fan base. It’s a good time to be a Wolves fan, and it’s always been a great time to power the team.
Xcel Energy has been powering the Wolves' home court at Target Center since the team’s first game in the arena in 1989, and we’ve been a partner with the team since 2018. If you’ve been to a game recently, you might remember our Match the Pack memory game during a timeout or in the Timberwolves app. Powering in-game entertainment and gameday giveaways are just a couple of ways we partner with the Wolves.
Our support for the team doesn’t stop when the game ends. Since 2022, we’ve enjoyed bringing even more to the community through sponsoring the Education Station bookmobile. With a goal of making literacy fun, accessible and memorable for K–3 students across the Twin Cities, the bookmobile brings the library experience directly to schools, camps and youth programs.
From early readers to advanced chapter books, the Education Station brings its range of offerings to Reading Rally events across the metro, where kids have a chance to meet Crunch, the Timberwolves Dancers, and sometimes even current or former players, who will read a book aloud before each student gets to pick out their own book from the bookmobile to take home.
Each stop for the Education Station allows over 100 kids to pick out a new book and experience the joys of reading.
"Xcel Energy is proud to support youth education and literacy," said John Marshall, Regional VP of Xcel Energy. “Investing in our communities helps strengthen and improve the places where we live and work."
