SEPA’s 2030 Club recognizes Xcel Energy as a clean energy leader
The Smart Electric Power Alliance initiative highlights utilities committed to carbon reduction
This month, the Smart Electric Power Alliance (SEPA) announced its 2030 Club initiative to recognize utilities with the most aggressive voluntary carbon reduction goals. Xcel Energy is among those included in the 2030 Club, as the first power company in the nation to make a commitment to reducing carbon emissions 80% by 2030, from 2005 levels.
As leaders in the clean energy transition, Xcel Energy and other 2030 Club members are developing industry benchmarks and best practices to help other companies succeed in their carbon reduction journey. There are 25 members in the 2030 Club representing a variety of business models, geographic locations, and generation portfolios. Participating organizations range from large utility parent companies to small municipal and electric cooperative utilities.
